Rolling over!

Well, it's been months since I've posted. Fun four months!!!! They've gotten so big, holding their heads up, drinking 6 ounces at a time, almost sitting up, and now, the biggest milestone, rolling over! Drew just rolled over by himself tonight, and Connor is most of the way there. He sleeps on his side now (and looks just like I do), and is almost there with the roll over. They are smiling, laughing, and whenever you first see them they give you a huge smile. Impossible not smile back at them! Heidi's been doing "tick tock" with them, swinging like a pendulum, and they smile and laugh. It's such a great experience! They're so happy and easy going, they make it easy. We only had one rough night, after they got their 4 months shots. Wow, talk about crying that night! But nothing that a first dose of kiddie tylenol couldn't solve. 4.5 months now, rolling over, such big boys!!!

Almost 1 month!

I'm be slacking in my postings for the past few weeks, as we settle into the routines of life. Feedings, sleeping, cuddling, playing. Heidi's been doing great, as I've been back at work for the past two weeks. The guys are going 3-4 hours between feedings, and generally either sleeping, or watching the world go by, in between. She does tummy time, takes them for walks, or just lounges with them. On the weekends we're generally packed full with activities, like this past weekends pumpkin picking outing (pic below).

The guys are getting more interactive, better eaters, eyes open more, and Heidi swears that Drew laughed today (a first). Most of the smiles I've seen look like gas pains though!

Saturday-visitors and a walk!

The first week is progressing great, amazing how fast it goes by. As it was said today, this is their first weekend! Boys, you don't realize how much you're gonna love these Saturdays when you're older!!!

Lots of visitors today, starting with Uncle Wade and Aunt Kim, along with Cousins Kaitlyn(4) and Aiden(2), dropping off a great recliner. Unfortunately, right before they got here, Heidi was emptying the dishwasher and the silverware emptied all over the floor. They come in, and Wade and Kaityln walk through the kitchen to a literal FIELD of knives, spoons and forks all over the floor! Talk about hazards! Wade just looked at me with a look like "hmmm, you guys ok here???". Yeah, a highlight!!!

Then it was lunch with Dad, Myra, and Maria (Dad and Maria pictured). They visited, first time for Dad to see his grandkids! 40 years is a long time to wait for that dad, but I hope it was worth it. They brought a great lunch from the restaurant, so it was a full Thai lunch for everyone!

After they took off, it was time for babies first walk! Here's Heidi with the loaded up stroller. Yes, it took me a minute to figure out how to get the wheels to go down and all, neighbors must have been laughing at the new dad. But loaded up we got them, and had an awesome walk on a beautiful fall day.

Then a nice visit from Jaime Guthier, who got to spend some great time visiting with the boys, holding, cuddling, feeding, and showing them lots of love. They were so well behaved, we had to keep Jaime from taking one home! But it was great to have so many visitors today, both us and the boys love it when friends and family come by!

Friday evening

It's Friday evening, sorry I haven't posted in a while. We got to bring them home yesterday, which ended up being a pretty crazy day. We were told discharge was between 9-11, and the only time we could get an appointment for Drew's foot was 1pm, up in Princeton. Discharge ended up being noon, made for a mad dash up rte 1!

Got up to pediatric orthopedist, which went very well. They put a little cast on his foot (clubfoot, for those that didn't know). It's a 6-8 week cast program, then a potential surgery on his achilles, then bracing for a while. Curable though, once he's through that.

Then back home, to introduce the boys to the house and the cats! Tucket HATED it, went and hid, and only just came out tonight. We had to rearrange some things around the house, which between dinner, that, and the babies needs ended up consuming the entire night.

Today was two doctors visits(clean bill of health), a trip to Target (babies and I in the car, for now, easier), and then a relaxing day at home. Mom, Clare and Tommy came by for dinner, had a nice night. Now it's baby/daddy time while Heidi gets some sleep!

We're definitely settling into more of a routine, figuring out the feeding/changing/cuddling/sleeping patterns, and how we work best handling it. The house is getting more and more set up for their needs, and our convenience.

Alright, time for a feeding/diaper change, let's hope there isn't any pee incidents!

Day 3-a mid day update while they sleep

It's day 3 in the hospital, and Drew and Connor are doing good. They hadn't been eating well, just latched minorly but not really working it. Were very hungry and getting a little jaundiced, so we decided to supplement with a bottle this morning, and boy did they like that! Much like giving dad a bottle of Guinness, they are now content, resting, and sleeping happy. I'm sure that will wear off at some point, but its certainly less stressful on Heidi this way. And at 3 am, I'm sure that bottle will be much nicer than trying, unsuccessfully, to feed!

Heidi's doing well, eating fine, walking around, and looking forward to taking the boys home. They just got their professional photographs taken, I can tell already that we'll be suckers for whatever the boys want, 16 pics that I could have taken but we're shelling out money already, since they're so darn cute! Here's a proof copy of what they took.

Checkout of the hospital is tomorrow morning, so we'll update after get home, meet Guinness and Tucket, get a quick doctors visit, and settle into their home.

evening, day 2

Boys are doing good. Mostly sleep, fuss, and hold your hand. They definitely like to be held. Feeding has been todays challenge, but we've made slow progress with pumping then latching. We're both tired, but holding in there!

Around 10 pm-Day 1

The stream of visitors has wound down, which included Grandmom, Aunt Clare and Uncle Tommy, Aunt Kim and Uncle Wade, as well as about 20 people from heidi's crew downstairs in the OR. Great to see everyone, and having an extra set of hands to hold the guys was great. They're pretty quiet today, mostly sleeping. We've tried feeding them a bunch of times, but so far no one is interested. Oh well, tomorrow's another day for that. We've changed some diapers already, one of which included Drew pee'ing all over my hand (thanks buddy, but somehow I don't think you're done...).

Settling in for the night, catch everyone tomorrow!
