Day 3-a mid day update while they sleep

It's day 3 in the hospital, and Drew and Connor are doing good. They hadn't been eating well, just latched minorly but not really working it. Were very hungry and getting a little jaundiced, so we decided to supplement with a bottle this morning, and boy did they like that! Much like giving dad a bottle of Guinness, they are now content, resting, and sleeping happy. I'm sure that will wear off at some point, but its certainly less stressful on Heidi this way. And at 3 am, I'm sure that bottle will be much nicer than trying, unsuccessfully, to feed!

Heidi's doing well, eating fine, walking around, and looking forward to taking the boys home. They just got their professional photographs taken, I can tell already that we'll be suckers for whatever the boys want, 16 pics that I could have taken but we're shelling out money already, since they're so darn cute! Here's a proof copy of what they took.

Checkout of the hospital is tomorrow morning, so we'll update after get home, meet Guinness and Tucket, get a quick doctors visit, and settle into their home.

evening, day 2

Boys are doing good. Mostly sleep, fuss, and hold your hand. They definitely like to be held. Feeding has been todays challenge, but we've made slow progress with pumping then latching. We're both tired, but holding in there!

Around 10 pm-Day 1

The stream of visitors has wound down, which included Grandmom, Aunt Clare and Uncle Tommy, Aunt Kim and Uncle Wade, as well as about 20 people from heidi's crew downstairs in the OR. Great to see everyone, and having an extra set of hands to hold the guys was great. They're pretty quiet today, mostly sleeping. We've tried feeding them a bunch of times, but so far no one is interested. Oh well, tomorrow's another day for that. We've changed some diapers already, one of which included Drew pee'ing all over my hand (thanks buddy, but somehow I don't think you're done...).

Settling in for the night, catch everyone tomorrow!
The boys are resting peacefully in the nursery. Heidi's in the room (4012), feeling the drugs and resting. Mom and I are staring throughg the nursery windows, amazed at the little boys and how amazing they are! And mom's calling the one nurse a slow dope...grandmom mode already.

Will update more later today, but everyone's good and settling into life here!

and their born!

Drew and Connor are born!!! At 8:26am. Drew was first. Was breech, didn't really want to come out, but did. Then Connor was next, who we thought was breech but had flipped. Both came out and are healthy. Lots of photos, and a fun OR staff.

We're in the triage area, trying to get them to feed (not complying well).

They are both healthy, Drew is 6.7 lbs and 20", blondish hair. Connor is 5.8 lbs and 19.1", with a full head of black hair.
She's in the OR, I'm gowned up...game on!!!
Two little heartbeat monitors on, an iv line in place (after a first try, the second was better). Then our favorite question...are your lady parts maintained or do they need a trim?'. Now its a short wait, and we're off!

Checked in!

Its 6:15, and we're at the hospital! Was an early morning, especially for Heidi after getting only 3 hours of sleep, but we're excited and ready. Time for paperwork and to get our room. Loaded with our bags and such, feels like a hotel.

Sunday, September 26, 2010

The night before the boys are going to be delivered, and we are excited!!! The house is clean, the nursey is all put together, there are bouncy swings, diapers stacked, and peepee teepee's ready to go. Heidi's definitely feeling ready, it's been a long 9 months for her, but the boys have been good and really taken good care of her.

We're scheduled for an 8am c-section tomorrow morning, so come 8:15 or so we'll be able to introduce them to everyone! Up at 5am, on the road by 5:30, at the hospital by 6 for check in and such, and then three days (two nights) at Holy Redeemer for recovery, then it's home with everyone. The two cats (Guinness and Pawtucket) are ready to meet them, and I'm sure not aware what they are about to see!

Stay tuned!

Here's Heidi, at the entrance of the nursery
